Make the Road NJ Responds to Death of Baby with NJ Ties After ICE Detention

In response to today’s VICE article on the death of Mariee, a 19 month old baby who died after being detained by ICE in Dilley, TX at a private CoreCivic run facility, Nedia Morsy, lead organizer of Make the Road New Jersey, issued the following statement on behalf of Make the Road New Jersey’s immigrant membership:

“We are horrified and devastated by the death of 19-month old baby Mariee after she was detained by ICE at a private family detention center operated by CoreCivic in Dilley, TX. We stand with Mariee’s mother Yazmin and her family here in New Jersey as they pursue justice for Mariee. ICE is out of control. This cannot continue another day. Our children’s lives are on the line. We demand justice for Mariee.”
