Make the Road NJ Teen Worker Leaders Applaud Introduction of “Clean” $15 Minimum Wage Bill

Elizabeth, NJ – On behalf of Make the Road New Jersey, youth leader Angie Ruiz issued the following statement in support of the introduction of a $15 minimum wage bill with no carve outs in the New Jersey State Assembly:

“No worker should be excluded from the right to earn a living wage. Youth workers work hard to help our families, save for college and build a better future for ourselves. The sponsors of the clean $15 minimum wage bill understand that we can’t wait any longer to raise the wage in New Jersey. As a young woman of color, and as a teen worker, I am inspired by the leadership of Assemblywoman Timberlake and her fellow co-sponsors. Youth members of Make the Road New Jersey will be out sharing the news with voters and calling on the legislature to pass the clean $15 minimum wage bill.”

Make the Road NJ builds the power of immigrant and working class communities in New Jersey to achieve dignity and justice through community organizing, legal and support services, transformative education and policy innovation.
