Make the Road NJ Teen Workers Celebrate Passage of New Jersey’s $15 Minimum Wage Law

Teen Workers Were Nearly Excluded from the $15 Minimum Wage Hike, But After a Successful Organizing Drive, Will Reach $15 Alongside Adult Workers

On behalf of Make the Road New Jersey, the grassroots, membership based organization representing thousands of immigrant, Latinx and working class young people and adults, Gennesy Jimenez, teen leader at Make the Road NJ and worker, issued the following statement:

“Organizing works! New Jersey’s new minimum wage law will raise the floor for more than 1 million workers – including teen workers – across the state of New Jersey. Working class teens, whose contributions make up nearly 20% of their families income in NJ, organized, collected thousands of petition signatures, marched and wrote OpEds. We look forward to advancing an economic agenda that builds a strong economy for all and leaves no workers behind. New Jersey can win what our families deserve.“
