Representative Malinowski to Modify Large Scale Public Events Schedule March 13-16

Will Hold Tele-Townhall on Coronavirus (COVID-19) Response with Constituents: Wednesday, March 11 at 6pm

(Somerville, NJ) Out of an abundance of caution, Congressman Tom Malinowski will be reformatting the public programing put on by his office this weekend to comply with recommendations from public health experts pertaining to large scale gatherings.

Given the Governor’s emergency declaration coupled with the overwhelming public interest in our events, the office felt it prudent to temporarily discourage large scale gatherings that could inadvertently put the public at increased risk. The Congressman will continue to meet with constituents in person, one on one, and in small groups. The district office remains open to assist constituents during standard office hours, and extended office hours until 7pm every Wednesday.

Friday, March 13:

  • The Congress on Your Corner event currently scheduled for 5:30pm at Café Teasia in Cranford will become Open Office Hours. Rep. Malinowski will still be on site and constituents are free to drop in unscheduled to raise questions and address issues with federal agencies. Formal remarks will not be given.

Saturday, March 14

  • The Community Conversation on Public Corruption scheduled for 11am at Millburn Public Library will be postponed until later in the Spring. Date and location TBD based on availability of our featured speakers, End Citizens United President Tiffany Muller, and House Democracy Reform Task Force Chairman Rep. John Sarbanes.
  • The Congressman’s March Youth Advisory Council meeting scheduled for 2pm at Raritan Valley Community College will transition to a virtual format. Participants will receive additional instructions from office staff.

Monday, March 16

  • The Seniors Townhall scheduled for 3pm at the Westfield Community Center will be postponed and transition to a tele-townhall format later this month. Details to register for the call will be released in the coming days.

The office will make decisions regarding future upcoming events on a case by case basis based on projected attendance.

Tomorrow, Wednesday March 11, Congressman Malinowski will be hosting a Telephone Townhall for constituents with state and local health officials to keep the public informed of the latest response efforts to COVID-19. Constituents may register for the call here.
