MARCH & RIVERA FILE ETHICS COMPLAINT AGAINST EHT MAYOR, DEPUTY MAYOR

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, September 8, 2020 – Democratic candidates for Egg Harbor Township Committee Lisa March and Frank Rivera today filed ethics and campaign finance complaints against Mayor Paul Hodson and Deputy Mayor Laura Pfrommer for improper use of taxpayer-funded resources for their partisan campaign activities.

“Egg Harbor Township has one of the finest police departments in South Jersey, and we find it reprehensible that our opponents would improperly use them as political pawns in order to try to get re-elected,” said March and Rivera.

In one of their digital advertisements, Hodson and Pfrommer staged two marked Egg Harbor Township police vehicles right behind them at the parking lot of the Wal-Mart on the Black Horse Pike. The vehicles appear to be blatantly and strategically parked in opposite directions and conveniently fit within the frame of the picture.

“It appears obvious from this photo that Hodson and Pfrommer abused their office to have two police vehicles strategically placed in their digital advertisements,” said March and Rivera. “Should we have the honor of serving on the Township Committee, we will NEVER exploit our first responders for political gain.”

Ethics and campaign finance complaints were filed with the Egg Harbor Township Ethics Board and the New Jersey Election Law Enforcement Commission, respectively. New Jersey law prohibits public funds and public resources from being utilized for partisan political advantage. An  Open Public Records Act request was also filed in an attempt to determine who ordered these police vehicles be staged at Hodson and Pfrommer’s political photoshoot.
