MARCIA MARLEY HOSTS SEN. BOOKER IN SUPPORT OF DISTRICT 40 DEMOCRATS

MONTCLAIR, September 29, 2017 – On Thursday evening, Democratic leader Marcia Marley hosted Senator Cory Booker in an evening of support for the Democratic candidates in New Jersey’s 40th Legislative District.

“We are grateful for Senator Booker’s support,” said Thomas Duch. “He is commtted to fighting in Washington for the things New Jersey cares about. From funding to clean up our toxic waste sites, to transportation funding that will build a new tunnel to Manhattan – Senator Booker is committed to all New Jerseyans.”

The house was packed with supporters eager to grab a picture with Senator Booker, hoping to make a celebrity appearance on his Twitter page.

“The New Jersey Legislature must begin working more closely with our Congressional Delegation to secure federal funding for transportation and infrastructure projects,” said Paul Vagianos. “We are here with Senator Booker tonight demonstrating our strong bond. When we enter office, we aren’t starting from scratch. This advantage puts New Jersey one step closer to securing federal funds for the new Gateway Tunnel.”

Booker spoke for over half an hour, encouraging supporters to get up off the couch and take direct action in support of Democrats this fall.

“We who put our hands on our hearts and pledge allegiance to a flag, and believe in these ideals of liberty and justice for all – they’re nothing if we just say it in songs or oaths or speeches. We’ve got to live it every single day. I guarantee you that if between now and November 7, if you all get up every day and do one thing to make freedom ring [..] it is a guarantee with certainty that you will affect generations yet unborn,” proclaimed Senator Booker.
