WHO:              Kean University Board of Trustees

Meeting is open to, and will include comments from, the public.

WHY:               The Board is scheduled to consider major changes to University leadership and operations, including:

  • A resolution appointing a new University president.
  • A resolution authorizing the University to suspend various academic programs and take additional action to reduce operating costs in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • See Item 11.3 in the meeting agenda here.

“With a new president likely to start within weeks, it seems rash and counterproductive for the Board to consider cutting programs or slashing faculty and staff,” said Kean Federation of Teachers President Dr. James Castiglione. “University leadership should be open, transparent, and inclusive in looking at all the options before deciding how to deal with COVID-related challenges.”
