Mayor Fulop Files Over 6,000 Nominating Petitions

Massive Number Shows Fulop Campaign’s Organizational Strength, Broad Support Across Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ — Mayor Steven Fulop filed over 6,000 signed nominating petitions with the City Clerk today, a massive number that shows his campaign’s organizational strength as well as the broad support the Mayor enjoys throughout the community. The Fulop 2021 campaign is still gathering additional signatures and expects to file more petitions prior to the deadline on Monday. The petitions are spread evenly throughout Jersey City neighborhoods and represent significant support in all six wards for Mayor Fulop and his team.

“Jersey City residents recognize the progress our community has made over the past eight years and support our vision of continuing the work to make it the best midsize city in America,” said Mayor Fulop. “I would like to personally thank every resident who signed our petition because nothing that we’ve accomplished together would be possible without their support. It’s an honor to serve as Mayor and I promise to continue working as hard as I can to lead Jersey City forward.”

Mayor Fulop announced his re-election campaign in February of 2020 and later added new members to his Council slate, including Hudson County Democratic Organization Chair Amy DeGise for Council at-Large, Ward C Councilman Rich Boggiano and Jake Hudnut for Ward E Council. His campaign has received endorsements from several county political leaders, labor unions and other organizations and he is poised to run a comprehensive citywide campaign building towards election day on November 2.
