MAYOR HELMIN J. CABA LEADS A STRONG TEAM FOR PERTH AMBOY’S FUTURE
PERTH AMBOY, NJ (3/5/2024) — Mayor Helmin J. Caba, alongside incumbent Councilwoman Rose B. Morales and School Board President Stacey Peralta, officially announced their candidacy for the upcoming municipal election, signaling a continued commitment to Perth Amboy’s progress.
Under Mayor Caba’s leadership, Perth Amboy has seen remarkable public safety and fiscal discipline, driving economic development and enhancing the city’s infrastructure. “Our administration has set a new standard for Perth Amboy’s future,” said Mayor Caba. “We’ve reached a historic high in our public safety personnel and capabilities, contributing to a consistent decline in crime rates. These accomplishments reflect our effective strategies in maintaining public safety and our commitment to a safer city.”
Mayor Caba’s administration has also been pivotal in achieving financial stability, earning Perth Amboy an A+ credit rating from S&P. This fiscal discipline has enabled the city to pursue significant redevelopment projects without increasing taxes in 2021, 2022, and 2024. Additionally, Mayor Caba emphasized the transformative community and environmental initiatives, including the Rudyk Park overhaul and the Celotex Property remediation. These projects reflect the administration’s focus on improving Perth Amboy’s quality of life, expanding the Special Improvement District through strategic investments, and integrating smart technologies (wifi and charging stations) in our parks without imposing additional tax burdens on residents.
As Department Coordinator at Middlesex County College’s Department of Dental Hygiene and a dedicated union member, Councilwoman Morales brings a unique combination of professional skills, labor perspective, and strategic project management to her council duties. Her union membership adds a valuable dimension to her understanding of worker rights and community needs, enhancing her contributions to Perth Amboy’s redevelopment efforts. Since January 2021, Morales has been instrumental in ensuring the success of community-beneficial projects, illustrating her dedication to public service and her capacity to manage and participate in local government effectively. “I am dedicated to continuing our progress and shaping a future where every Perth Amboy resident thrives,” said Morales.
Stacey Peralta’s extensive professional background uniquely positions her as an ideal council member for Perth Amboy. Since 2017, as the Preschool Director at the Puerto Rican Association for Human Development, she has demonstrated leadership in staff management, budget oversight, and program development, emphasizing educational excellence and compliance with state and Board of Education policies. Her tenure as the Perth Amboy Board of Education’s President since January 2022 further showcases her capability in policy formulation, strategic decision-making, and community engagement. These roles and her hands-on teaching experience and success in grant applications highlight her comprehensive approach to educational and community development. “My goal is to leverage my experience to address our city’s broader challenges, ensuring a thriving Perth Amboy for all,” said Peralta.
“As the 2024 election approaches, I am eager to continue the transformative work we’ve begun, further advancing our achievements for Perth Amboy,” said Mayor Caba. “Alongside with my slate, we can ensure a thriving, prosperous future for all who call Perth Amboy home.”
