Mayor Moench Announces Resource to Help Residents Understand the Center of Excellence Lawsuit
BRIDGEWATER, NJ – Today, Thursday, February 6th, Bridgewater Township has placed on their website and social media outlets, a “Frequently Asked Questions” page in an attempt to answer resident questions regarding Advance Realty’s lawsuit currently pending against the Bridgewater Planning Board. The FAQ page can be found at https://www.bridgewaternj.gov/center-of-excellence-lawsuit-faq/.  Mayor Moench hopes that this will be a helpful resource to inform residents and concerned stakeholders on this complicated and critical issue.
“As residents have already seen, our Administration has made communication with the public one of our top priorities. It is critical to keep the public informed of issues that impact our community in a timely and comprehensive manner. To that end, we’ve put together a FAQ to help residents understand the current action involving the Center of Excellence property.   In the future, we will put out FAQs on other topics of interest and especially on issues related to the Center of Excellence,” said Mayor Matthew Moench.
Despite the fact that the Bridgewater Planning Board already indicated that it would consider and vote on a memorializing resolution for the Center of Excellence on February 25, 2020, Advance Realty has filed an Order to Show Cause to compel the Township to do something that it is already obligated to do, and has agreed to do.
“This is just another example of this developer disrespecting our community and demanding to have its way, no matter what. Instead of giving the Planning Board’s attorney the opportunity to review the resolution and make sure the 39-page document is accurate and thorough, they’ve instead decided to cost the Township time and money to do what we are already doing,” added Mayor Moench. “This demonstrates that this is an organization that does not want to work with our community.”
“I hope residents will take the time to look over the FAQ page on the Township website.  We believe it is clear now that they are attempting to end run municipal law at the expense of taxpayer dollars. I encourage any resident who continues to have questions regarding the lawsuit to call or email our office.”
