Mayor Moench and Bridgewater Commons Mall Management Make Statement on Closing of Lord & Taylor’s
Bridgewater, NJ – Retailer Lord & Taylor’s recently announced that they are closing their store in the Bridgewater Commons Mall following a string location closing throughout their operating territory. Lord & Taylor’s is one of the three anchor stores at the Bridgewater Commons Mall.
“Lord & Taylor has been a staple of the mall and this community for many years, and while we are disappointed, we are not surprised to see them go,” said Troy Fischer, Bridgewater Commons Manager. “Our new management, development and leasing team at Trademark Property are already working toward creating a plan to enhance the customer experience through creative property evolution, management and leasing efforts. The Lord & Taylor space will provide an opportunity to be creative in how we write the next chapter of the Bridgewater Commons story.  In May 2020, Trademark Property assumed management responsibilities for Bridgewater Commons and has a 28-year track record as a developer and value-add operator and adviser to institutional investors, helping retail and mixed-use properties evolve based upon the needs and aspirations of the community.”
“The Bridgewater Commons Mall is the cornerstone of this community’s commercial sector and is critical to a robust municipal economy,” said Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench. “So, while many in our community will miss Lord & Taylor’s, the Township remains confident in the long term viability of the mall. We are continually engaging with the management of the Bridgewater Commons as they prepare to work with the community to implement an exciting and sustainable path forward.”
Lord & Taylor will stay open through the end of the year.
