Mayor Nominates Jeff Hewitson to Serve on the Hamilton Township Zoning Board

Mayor Kelly Yaede has nominated Hamilton resident Jeff Hewitson to fill the currently vacant Alternate #2 member position on the Hamilton Township Zoning Board of Adjustment.

For more than 30 years, Hewitson served in various capacities within the State Department of Transportation, such as an Engineer, Hearing Officer and a Quality Assurance Team Leader.

Additionally, Hewitson previously served as a member of the Hamilton Township Board of Education from 2010 to 2014, which included a period where he was elected by his colleagues to be School Board President.

Hewitson also formerly served on the Township Zoning Board, which adds to his qualifications for the position.

In addition, Hewitson has been involved in local athletics for several years, as a basketball referee, a former Director of the local Prime Time Shootout basketball tournament and work with other area athletic organizations.

“Community service has always been a major part of my life; and to once again serve on our local Zoning Board is simply another way that I believe I can continue to give back to our township,” says Hewitson.  “I would like to thank Mayor Yaede for nominating me and welcome the opportunity to serve.”

“Jeff is an excellent candidate to serve on the Zoning Board, given his prior service on the board, as well as his long and distinguished career in public service,” explains Mayor Yaede.  “I am pleased to nominate him for this position and am confident he will once again serve on it with distinction.”

Hewitson’s nomination is expected to be heard by the Township Council for final approval in May.

The Hamilton Township Zoning Board of Adjustment is an autonomous body that, in accordance with State Land Use Law, reviews applications requiring use variances from township Zoning Ordinances, such as for unapproved land uses for a specific zone of the community, inconsistencies for property site plans, request for subdivisions, or relief from flood plain requirements.
