State Senators Rice and Ruiz will join commerce and health State leaders
to discuss reopening strategies in a virtual moderated discussion
Newark, NJ – May 12, 2020—Mayor Ras J. Baraka will host “ReOpening: Our Resurgence from COVID-19” on Wednesday, May 13, at 1:30 p.m. This event is intended for and open to residents statewide.

At this virtual discussion, Mayor Ras J. Baraka, along with State Senators Ronald L. Rice and M. Teresa Ruiz; New Jersey Commissioner of Education Dr. Lamont O. Repollet; African-American Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey CEO and Founder John Harmon; Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Carlos Medina; and OBHealthy Founder and CEO Dr. Omar Bey will discuss impacts of opening up too soon as well as efforts that should be in place to protect all residents. Panelists will discuss what is happening in communities of color as well as the mitigation strategies that are needed to save lives and safeguard residents during the pandemic.John S. Watson Institute for Public Policy of TESU Executive Director Barbara George Johnson will serve as moderator.
