SLOW Art Studios Makes Vital Improvements Through the Trenton Business Improvement Incentive Program

Trenton N.J. – The City of Trenton’s Business Improvement Incentive Program, a local economic development grant program, has once again aided local businesses.  

Through a grant amounting to $5,500, SLOW Art studios, located at 750 Cass Street, was able to replace their building’s roof, cementing the continued safety and security of their business, as well as the building’s ground-floor business, One Up One Down Coffee Roastery and Caffe.

The Trenton Business Improvement Incentive offers grants of up to 50% of total project cost, grant to not exceed $20,000, to businesses operating within retail space that are planning to make building improvements, with a minimum project cost of $5,000.

“We are extremely thankful for this grant from the City of Trenton,” said Lauren Otis, who co-owns SLOW Art studios with Andrew Wilkinson. “This funding has enabled us to go forward with a much-needed roof replacement to 750 Cass Street, keeping our unique building sound and able to house One Up One Down Coffee Roastery & Caffe on the ground floor and SLOW Art studios above so we can both continue to serve the Trenton community.”

Other projects that the Trenton Business Improvement Incentive Program have supported since the inception of the program include interior commercial space at 103 Perry St, solar installation at 5 Chelten Way, the roof at 13 East Front, façade and roof at 219 East Hannover, weather vestibule at 106 Pennington Ave, façade at 115 S Warren St, electric and flooring at 134 E Hanover St, automobile lifts at 330 Ferry St, as well as stair repairs and waterproofing at 128 W. State Street.

At-Large Trenton City Councilwoman Crystal Feliciano affirmed, “I am excited for One Up One Down Coffee, it’s efforts and opportunities such as this that give our business owners additional financial support needed to function and be successful. Kudos to the City for this great incentive program.”
