WHAT: Mayor Reed Gusciora joins local bicycle advocacy group, Trenton Cycling Revolution, in celebrating National Bike Month. Trenton Cycling Revolution and partners are throwing a Bike Commuter Appreciation Day with free coffee and tune-ups around the City, accompanied by a ride to City Hall with the Mayor.

WHEN: Thursday, May 30, 7-10 a.m.

Mayoral ride at 9 a.m.

WHERE: 7-8:30 a.m. Hamilton Avenue & South Clinton Avenue [Trenton, NJ]

9-10 a.m. City Hall [Trenton, NJ]

WHY: May is National Bike Month. 40% of all trips in the U.S. are less than two miles, making bicycling a feasible and fun way to get to work. With an increased interest in healthy, sustainable and economic transportation options, the number of regular bicycle commuters in the U.S. is increasing daily.

“This is a great way to reduce our carbon footprint by getting cars off the roads. I’m looking forward to a fun group ride tomorrow, and I encourage others to join us and try biking to work,” said Mayor Reed Gusciora.

“We wanted to celebrate bike month by offering fellow cyclists in Trenton a free safety check of their bike and a little coffee for their ride,” said Wills Kinsley, President of Trenton Cycling Revolution

“National Bike Month is not only the perfect time to celebrate those who opt for alternative modes of transportation, but it’s also a great time for cities to reflect on what might be preventing people from bicycling or walking to work or school,” said Sonia Szczesna, Program Manager of the Tri-State Transportation Campaign.
