Mayor Selects Honorable Guests for Iron Fireman Unveiling
Trenton N.J. – Mayor Reed Gusciora, and Acting Fire Director Steve Coltre will be accompanied by Ethel Collins and Lisa McNeese for the unveiling of the Capital City’s Iron Fireman on Sunday, at 2:00 pm.
The Mayor will be honoring Mrs. Collins. She is the widow of the late Lynwood Collins, Trenton’s first African American firefighter. When Mr. Collins was no longer able to serve the City of Trenton, his wife stepped up and became the sole breadwinner for her family of four. In her own distinction, Mrs. Collins became the first black parking enforcer in our City. She is also the daughter of Trenton’s first African American police officer.
Lisa McNeese is Trenton Fire Department’s first black female firefighter.
The ceremony will commence at 2:00 pm outside the front of Trenton City Hall. Also in attendance will be representatives from the state legislature, county fire departments, and local EMS unions.
