McKeon: AG Lawsuits Make Environmental Enforcement a Priority
(TRENTON) – Assemblyman John F. McKeon (D-Essex, Morris) commended Attorney General Gurbir S. Grewal and Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Commissioner Catherine R. McCabe for filing six separate lawsuits against companies that have polluted several properties throughout the state, as well as groundwater and waterways:
“Companies who have put New Jersey residents’ health at risk by polluting properties and waterways around the state must be held accountable.
“The fact that there had not been a single new National Resource Damage (NRD) case in a decade speaks volumes: environmental enforcement in New Jersey was not a priority under the previous administration.
“Yet I echo Attorney General Grewal and Commissioner McCabe’s sentiment: it’s ‘a new day’ and companies responsible for polluting New Jersey’s water, sediments and wetlands will pay for the harm they have caused in our state.”
