MEJIA: “If Amazon can raise the wage, so can the NJ legislature”

In response to Amazon’s announcement that it will pay all permanent and seasonal workers in the United States at least $15/hour, NJ Working Families executive director Analilia Mejia said:

“This game-changing move by Amazon is another sign that $15 is the new national standard. While a growing number of cities, states and companies across America adopt a $15 minimum wage, New Jersey’s working families are falling behind. New Jersey legislators have consistently voiced their support for $15, but it’s been five years since they’ve taken any action to raise pay for working people. If Amazon can raise the wage, so can New Jersey. Legislators should move immediately to pass a $15 minimum wage that leaves no one behind.”

New Jersey Working Families is a progressive political organization that fights for progressive policies and recruits, trains, and elects the next generation of progressive leaders. It was a leader in successful fight to pass paid sick days in New Jersey, and coordinates the Raise New Jersey coalition fighting for $15.
