Menendez Campaign Names Sandberg Communications Director
New Brunswick, N.J. – The Menendez for Senate Campaign today announced that it has named Steve Sandberg, a veteran newsman and communicator with over 20 years’ experience and deep New Jersey roots, to be the campaign’s Communications Director. Sandberg has spent the past four years as the press secretary for the Office of U.S. Sen. Bob Menendez.
“With the Supreme Court, women’s rights, the environment, and the balance of Congress on the line, the stakes in this election have never been higher, so we are thrilled to welcome Steve, a respected and experienced communications professional with deep New Jersey roots, to lead our communications team,” said Campaign Chairman Michael Soliman. “Let there be no doubt—Bob Hugin, who maxed out campaign donations to Donald Trump, was a delegate and state finance chair for Trump, and can’t even issue timid statements calling out Trump’s harmful policies, would be yet another rubber stamp for Trump in the Senate.”
Prior to joining Sen. Menendez’s office, Sandberg spent much of his career as a well-respected and award-winning broadcast journalist covering New Jersey and the region. He most recently worked for nearly a decade as a general assignment reporter at 1010 WINS, the #1 all-news radio station in the nation, and previously reported on WOR 710, WABC 770, and WRNJ in Hackettstown, among others. Steve also spent three seasons as the voice of College of New Jersey Football.
Sandberg is a graduate of Rutgers University-New Brunswick, where he majored in Journalism & Mass Media and Political Science, and later attended Rutgers Law School in Newark. Raised in Old Bridge, Middlesex County, Steve currently resides in Essex County with his wife and son.
