Menendez Statement on Passing of Former Puerto Rico Gov. Rafael Hernández Colón

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Bob Menendez (D-N.J.) released the following statement upon news of the passing of former Puerto Rico GovernorRafael Hernández Colón:

“Today, I join the people of Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans in New Jersey and across the globe in mourning the loss of former Governor Rafael Hernández Colón. A s one of Puerto Rico’s longest serving governors, Hernández Colón’s life and legacy have left a lasting imprint on the island’s history and way of life.  No matter your political beliefs or where you stand ideologically on Puerto Rico’s status, there is no denying that Governor Hernández-Colón was a true statesman who loved Puerto Rico and its people.  I send my deepest condolences to his family and loved ones.  He will be missed.”
