Mercer County Young Republican Statement on the Shutdown of Voting Machines Throughout Mercer

TRENTON – Mercer County Young Republicans are disgusted with the shutdown of voting machines throughout Mercer County. This morning it was made public that there is allegedly a software glitch with every single voting machine in Mercer County. All voters are forced to vote through provisional ballots that would be tabulated later tonight.

The Mercer County Board of Elections has a history of neglecting its duty to properly secure the votes of its citizens. Last year, the gubernatorial primary poll books did not properly state which voters voted by mail and was not remedied until later that day. In the past few months, the Republican National Committee filed a lawsuit against the Mercer County Board of Elections demanding a list of all cured ballots from last year’s general election and won it in court.

Chairwoman Reichardt commented, “The Mercer County Young Republicans stand with the voters of Mercer County who deserve better services from their government. The right to vote is a cornerstone of our society, which should be safe and secure. Today’s actions could confuse prospective voters and alter the results of races we have worked so hard on.”
