Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners awards $1.5 million grant to the City of South Amboy for improvements to and development at the Allie Clark Athletic Field Complex

 

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – On May 6, 2021, the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners awarded a grant in the amount of $1.5 million to the City of South Amboy for improvements and development at the Allie Clark Athletic Field Complex. Funding was allocated from the County’s Open Space Recreation and Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund.

A Green Acres Recreation Area, the Allie Clark Athletic Field Complex is located at 200 Governor Hoffman Plaza in South Amboy. Planned improvements to the complex include the creation of two artificial turf baseball fields with LED lighting; the refurbishment of one Little League/softball field with a warning track, clay infield resurfacing and irrigation; new fencing, foul poles, dugouts, benches, bleachers, scoreboards, and bases; and new sidewalks, walkways, and landscaping. The project’s estimated total cost is over $3.5 million.

Rios. “This funding, awarded via our Open Space Recreation and Farmland and Historic Preservation Trust Fund, exemplifies the close working relationship between the County and the city and our ongoing commitment to ensuring Middlesex County is the best place to live, work, and play.”

“I’m proud to have worked closely with South Amboy Mayor Fred Henry and city leaders to secure this funding for the City of South Amboy,” said County Commissioner Charles E. Tomaro, chair of the County’s Infrastructure Management Committee. “This grant will help fund critical improvements to the Allie Clark Athletic Field Complex that will ensure these outdoor facilities can be enjoyed by South Amboy residents for years to come.”
