Middlesex County recognizes Hunger Action Heroes

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ – In observance of Hunger Action Month this September, the Middlesex County Board of County Commissioners recognized four Hunger Action Heroes during the Board’s September 7 meeting. These heroes were nominated for their innovative and impactful efforts in collaborating with REPLENISH, Middlesex County’s food distribution organization, to combat food insecurity within the community. The honorees, from various sectors including the community, government, and corporate partners, were chosen by the REPLENISH staff and the Feeding Middlesex County Board.

This year, the following individuals and organizations were recognized:

  • 2023 Corporate Hunger Hero: Topgolf, Edison
  • 2023 Community Hunger Hero: Miriam O’Hare, Rows for the Hungry
  • 2023 Government Hunger Hero: Peter Barcellona, Chair, We Feed Woodbridge
  • 2023 Tom Ellison Food Pantry Volunteer: Kristen Tabert, New Life Food Pantry in Helmetta

The 2023 Tom Ellison Food Pantry Volunteer Hunger Hero Award is dedicated in the loving memory of Tom Ellison, REPLENISH’s former warehouse manager of 10 years who passed away in March 2020.
