MIDDLESEX COUNTY YOUNG DEMOCRATS ELECT NEW EXECUTIVE BOARD

EDISON — The Middlesex County Young Democrats released the following statement regarding their 2020 Elections and Re-organization Meeting:

At last night’s meeting, the Middlesex County Young Democrats held their inaugural organizational election where the committee elected the following Board Members:

• Gail Lalla (Edison), President
• Brian Boyell (Edison), Executive Vice President
• Sean Gregory (New Brunswick), Vice President of Fundraising
• Ashley Kaplan (New Brunswick), Vice President of Engagement
• Jack Barnes (Edison), Treasurer
• Rianna Moonsammy (Monroe Twp), Secretary

“The Middlesex Young Dems have emerged as a statewide model in how to grow and support a new generation of Democratic leaders and have been an instrumental partner with the Middlesex County Democratic Organization under Rob Zuckerman’s leadership,” said Middlesex County Democratic Chairman Kevin P. McCabe. “We know the Middlesex Young Dems will only continue to grow with Gail Lalla as President, and I look forward to working with her and the new Executive Board this year.”

Following the election, appointments were made for the following Board Members:

• Rachel Cohen (East Brunswick), Communications Director
• Tiffany Gathright (New Brunswick), Black Caucus Chair
• Joseph Johnson (Edison), Policy Chair
• Patrick Coveny (Colonia), Volunteer Caucus Chair
• Dan Harris (Woodbridge), MCYD Executive Board Member

“2020 proves to be a challenging year for so many affected by the COVID-19 crisis as well as the crisis of social injustice,” said incoming President Gail Lalla. “The MCYD will continue to promote its core pillars of justice, equality, diversity, and the promotion of fellowship and cooperation with one another. The objectives of the MCYD are to Recruit, Empower, and Engage.”

“The MCYD intends to continue outreach to our community while successfully engaging new members and other counties. Last year, our organization hosted almost two dozen events that were not only inviting, but gave back to our local communities. If there is anything that COVID-19 has taught us, is that we have a pressing need for reaching out to each member of our community. I am certain that our 2020 Executive Board and members will continue to build on the excellent work we have done and will do in the future.”
