Middlesex County Young Democrats to host fundraiser honoring McCabe, Narra & Spevak on Tuesday Sept 5th
The Middlesex County Young Democrats (MCYD) will host their 1st Annual Leadership Awards Fundraiser and Campaign Kickoff event on September 5th at Roosterspin in New Brunswick. There will be three awards presented to influential leaders that Tuesday evening.
The Chairman of the Middlesex County Democratic Organization, Kevin McCabe will receive the “Leadership” award. Chairman McCabe’s strong, progressive, and successful leadership for Democrats of any age throughout Middlesex County and across New Jersey and his incredible support and encouragement for young democrats makes him the optimal choice to be the first to receive the title award.
Middlesex County Freeholder Shanti Narra will be receiving an award for the inspiration she brings to the next generation. Freeholder Narra, a supervising criminal defense attorney with the Legal Aid Society in Manhattan, became the first South Asian Freeholder in New Jersey history this past year. She is an intelligent and progressive leader who has broken through proverbial “glass ceilings” and is truly inspiring to us all.
New Jersey Young Democrats’ President Marshall Spevak will be presented with an award reserved for young rising leaders. The MCYD chose to include an honoree who represents young democrats throughout the State and is dedicated to reaching across “County lines” in an effort to work together. President Spevak’s support for rebuilding young democratic organizations throughout New Jersey has been significant and the NJYD have expanded to 17 county chapters and 7 constituency caucuses during his tenure. He has been instrumental in overseeing and organizing programs that educate and hone the skills of young democrats working on Democratic campaigns and that train and cultivate high-school students to become future Democratic leaders.
The tickets are $35, sponsorships are available, and earlier this week the Middlesex County Democrats began a fundraising initiative to raise money for the American Red Cross relief efforts in Texas. A portion of a purchase of a $40 ticket will be donated to the Red Cross and the MCYD will be matching the funds to double the total donations. Tickets can be purchased online at MCYDNJ.org or by visiting our Facebook page, “MiddlesexYoungDems”.
The Middlesex County Young Democrats invite you to join in honoring these Democratic leaders on September 5th at Roosterspin in New Brunswick.
