Millburn Dems Give Nod to Romano and Cohen

Millburn, NJ – The Millburn-Short Hills Democratic Committee has voted to endorse Millburn-Short Hills Democratic Chair Annette Romano and Michael H. Cohen for two Millburn Township Committee seats.

Romano is a lifelong resident and has served as the Democratic chair of the Millburn-Short Hills Democratic Committee for seven years.  Under her leadership, Democrats in Millburn-Short Hills took the majority on the Township Committee, provided a decisive margin for Congressman Tom Malinowski in 2018 and 2020, and expanded Governor Phil Murphy’s vote total in 2021.  Romano also founded and runs the Millburn Food Pantry, was the Health and Safety Director at the American Red Cross, and currently works at New Jersey Transit in human resources.  Her priorities include bolstering public safety through community participation and creating a focus on smart development strategies that support our local economy, preserve the character of Millburn Township, and protect our environment.

Michael Cohen has lived in the Glenwood section of Short Hills since 1988. He is married and the father of two sons who attended the Millburn school system. He worked as a project manager in the technology field and later in the financial government reporting group at a major financial institution. After retiring in 2017, he became active in local politics including voter registration and campaigns for the Township Committee and other elected offices. In his first run for elected office, he is focusing on flood prevention, commercial revitalization and other issues impacting the township.

“I am grateful for the support of my fellow Millburn-Short Hills Democratic Committee district leaders.  I love this town and as a lifelong resident I’ve seen up close both the challenges we face and opportunities that lie ahead of us,” said Romano.  “I look forward to advocating for all Millburn-Short Hills residents in a new role, while continuing to support candidates up and down the ballot who embrace democracy and our Millburn-Short Hills values,” she continued.

“I am gratified by the vote of confidence from the Millburn Short Hills Democratic Committee.  I’m looking forward to working with residents across the community to create a brighter future for Millburn-Short Hills,” said Cohen.  “In my career I’ve managed large scale projects and developed expertise on government finance.  My goal is to help bring my experience to bear on doing what is best for taxpayers,” he said.
