Millburn GOP Announces 2022 Candidates

The Millburn Short Hills Republican Committee has endorsed recent School Board Member Oyin Owalabi and 40 year resident and township businessman Michael Rozansky for two Township Committee seats to be decided in the November 2022 election.

Oyin is a scientist who has worked as a clinical trials project manager for a major pharmaceutical company.  She sat on the boards that make critical decisions to ensure projects are conducted on time and on budget with high quality results. Her leadership skills were valued on the Millburn School Board.  Oyin and her husband are parents of three children in the Millburn school system.

“I thoroughly support construction of our affordable housing obligation. However, I have spoken out strongly against the stand alone affordable housing development in the town dump that was rubber stamped by the Township Committee with no resident input.  It is a disgrace to the values of our community,” Oyin stated.

Michael Rozansky, recently retired, holds an engineering degree and a Masters in management studies.  He is an experienced project engineer, comfortable making decisions of consequence. Mike has worked collaboratively with people of different backgrounds and cultures on the Washington DC metro, military airports, nuclear power plants and recovery at those plants when trouble arose.  He has seen how the massive high density development projects, approved by this township committee with no civic engagement, have engulfed our community.

“I make a very simple pledge to Millburn’s residents.  I am committed to bringing transparency back to our government.  I will work closely with the residents on our affordable housing obligation, flood prevention, the increase in crime and infrastructure maintenance to achieve smart, balanced and sustainable solutions that reinforce the reasons that make Millburn special.  I want the same quality of life for my grandchildren that my children experienced, he said.”

GOP Chair Mary McNett continued “Our candidates are running to tackle local issues with solutions that reflect our community values. When our elected officials secretly do the developers’ bidding and allow our roads, schools and community to be filled beyond capacity and then they stick the residents with the bill for hidden costs, that is not democracy.   We will restore the pillars of democracy – transparency and accountability – that protect our quality of life.”
