Mayor Santana, a millennial himself, embodies the fresh perspectives, energy, and understanding that our generation brings to the table.

Mayor Santana’s impressive background speaks for itself. Since being appointed Mayor of the Town of Kearny in July 2023, he has demonstrated remarkable leadership. A native of Brazil, Santana graduated from Faculdade Rui Barbosa College and earned a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Peter’s University. His professional experience as an IT Director for the Harrison Board of Education and Principal of the Adult High School night school program at the Hudson County Schools of Technology highlights his multifaceted skill set.
In his role as Second Ward Council Member and now as Mayor, Santana has showcased his commitment to enhancing Kearny’s quality of life, evidenced by his support of various initiatives such as the Night Out on Crime, a Drone Surveillance Program, and surveillance camera upgrades throughout the town. His engagement in community events, like the Peruvian Parade and numerous flag raisings and parades, underscores his dedication to connecting with residents and uplifting community spirit.
With millennials making up the largest adult population and workforce in the U.S., it is essential they have representation in elected offices. Despite being the driving force of the country’s economy and culture, millennials are often underrepresented in political leadership roles. Mayor Santana’s re-election campaign offers a unique opportunity to address this disparity and encourage more young leaders to step into the political arena.
