MOENCH ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCES PLAN FOR 2023 ROAD IMPROVEMENTS, COMMENCING YEAR THREE OF FIVE-YEAR ROAD IMPROVEMENT PLAN

Bridgewater, NJ – Tonight, Bridgewater Mayor Matthew Moench announced the 2023 Road construction list, commencing year 3 of the 5-year Township Road Plan. The list features the 58 roads the Township plans to improve this year, including an additional 11 alternate roads that will be added to the queue if budget circumstances allow. Any member of the public may use www.OurBWRoads.com to view both the 2023 list and other relevant information to the 5-Year Township Road Plan.

“I couldn’t be more thrilled to announce the continuation of our town’s five-year road improvement plan. Year three marks a major milestone for our community, and I am genuinely excited to see the continued benefits this plan will bring to our residents. Our investment in Bridgewater’s infrastructure will enhance our quality of life and strengthen our local economy. I am honored to serve such a dynamic and forward-thinking community, and I am eager to work alongside our dedicated team of leaders to ensure Bridgewater remains a wonderful place to call home.”

Moench continued, “There may be residents who do not see their road on this list and will be disappointed. Just know that our work is not finished and we will continue to push to prioritize all roads that need improvement in subsequent years.”

As the Township awards engineering contracts for the road projects, those roads will appear on the “Current Projects” tracking sheet under the “Road Projects” tab on www.OurBWRoads.com.

“Our commitment to long-term planning represents our dedication to this community and our residents,” said Bridgewater Council President Michael Kirsh.

“Now that we are three years into this five-year roads plan, we can clearly see its positive impact – newly restored and improved roads allow for smoother and safer travel throughout our town, including directly in front of many residents’ own properties. This year’s $8 million investment continues to further that goal. I would like to thank the Administration and Engineering staff for all their hard work and for keeping Council engaged and informed.”

“At the end of the day, this project showcases a vision for dedicated, long-term improvement to Bridgewater’s roads. We know that projects like these aren’t completed overnight. That’s why making it to year three of five is so exciting. I look forward to the early jump start on this year’s program and continuing to see improvements made on roads across the Township.”

Councilman Tim Ring added this insight: “We are now approaching the halfway point of this project, and residents can really begin to both see and feel the difference throughout town. We believe that the residents of Bridgewater deserve infrastructure they can count on and literally drive on. I am excited to see us move through the 58 roads on the list this year and continue to make progress through the final two years of this plan and beyond.”

At the Bridgewater Township Council meeting tonight, the Council will consider awards for engineering design for each of the road improvement regions in Bridgewater. If approved, this action will begin the process of designing the roads to be constructed in 2023.

With these 58 roads, the 5 Year Road Plan will have realized the improvement of more than 200 roads since its first year in 2021. For more information, visit www.OurBWRoads.com or call the Office of Constituent Relations at 908-725-6300 ex. 5888.
