According to N.J.S.A.19:23-24, the ballot drawing for the 2020 Primary Election was scheduled to fall on Good Friday, April 10, a legal holiday observed by State and Local Government Offices.
Based on recently enacted legislation, Bill S1982, and in coordination with other County Clerks throughout the State, the ballot drawing will be conducted on Thursday, April 9 at 3 p.m, 54 days before the Primary Election.
Due to ongoing efforts to stop the spread of COVID-19, Monmouth County Government buildings, including all Monmouth County Clerk’s Offices, are closed to the public through April 30.
Therefore, the 2020 Primary Election ballot drawing will be livestreamed and available to watch on the Monmouth County Clerk’s Office Facebook page at Facebook.com/MonmouthCountyClerk and the Monmouth County Government YouTube Channel at YouTube.com/MonmouthCountyNJ.
“During this unprecedented time, my office is working hard to ensure that the elections process continues to be carried out based on State law,” said Clerk Hanlon. “For the safety of the public and our employees, we will utilize technology and social media to make the primary election ballot drawing viewable to all.”
