Morris County Democratic Women’s Caucus Call Out Anonymous Letter and Stand by Endorsement
March 9, 2020 – The Morris County Democratic Women’s Caucus exists to educate, empower, and support women involved in the political process. We are very concerned by the anonymous letter reportedly sent by Caucus members.
The MCDWC holds meetings, trainings, fundraisers and other events throughout the year. In the past twelve months, the MCDWC has hosted 3 different fundraisers, one of which was a performance of an all-female production of 1776: The Musical; has hosted four training events including a Blue Bench candidate training and an Issues Bootcamp; held a free Feminist Film Friday, had two general Caucus meetings in 2019, one in February and another in April, and hosted a LD-25 Candidate forum last month. The work we do and funds we raise go to support Caucus members running for office. Hundreds of women have participated in our meetings, trainings, and events. In our two years, we have been able to financially support over 35 women running for office in Morris County from the local level to the State Assembly.
The MCDWC exists to lift up and support Democratic women engaged in the political arena in Morris County. We can’t imagine where the anonymous writer obtained the information in their letter, but we would be happy to speak with them and discuss our various upcoming meetings and events and include them in our planning efforts.
Rupande Mehta and Darcy Draeger are founding members of our Caucus and have consistently attended our meetings and events and are true team players – they are well known for their outreach in the district. No one can match their canvassing efforts on behalf of themselves and all the candidates running in the district. For years, they have engaged with local voters and have a deep understanding of the issues affecting voters in Morris County.
Our endorsement came after a vetting process, which included the Candidate Forum we co-hosted last month in Boonton, as well as a call from our members to take a leadership role and support the highly qualified women running for office. The support of our active caucus members in this action has been overwhelming and we stand by the endorsement.
