MORRIS FREEHOLDER CANDIDATE PARMIGIANI CONDEMNS

MASTRANGELO’S EXPLETIVE-FILLED RECORDING

Calls on Republicans to Denounce Mastrangelo’s Bullying, Threatening Tactics

MORRIS HILLS, NJ (Oct. 24, 2019)—Cara Parmigiani, the Democratic candidate for Morris County Freeholder, is calling on Republicans to denounce an expletive-filled recording of Freeholder Tom Mastrangelo threatening his political opponents.

The recording was posted online Wednesday and captures Mastrangelo issuing threats and laying out a plot to intimidate and retaliate against his political opponents in a voicemail he left for Parsippany  Republican Chair Louis Valori in 2016. During the nearly three-minute tirade, Mastrangelo uses a barrage of expletives to insult various Republican officials. One expletive is repeated 21 times.

“The recording is reprehensible and disturbing on its face, but more importantly raises very serious concerns about Freeholder Mastrangelo’s character and fitness for public office,” Parmigiani said. “He is threatening people, he is formulating plans for intimidation and retaliation. We cannot dismiss this as some bad language in the heat of the moment. For nearly three minutes, he is screaming into someone’s voicemail describing his plot to intimidate and retaliate against officials who disagree with him. Unfortunately, none of this is surprising given what we all already know about Freeholder Mastrangelo’s reputation for these kinds of tactics,” Parmigiani said.

“If Mr. Mastrangelo is comfortable bullying and threatening those with whom he shares the halls of power, we can only imagine how he deals with private citizens who get caught in his cross hairs,” Parmigiani said. “Our residents need to feel safe exercising their right to speak out publicly and disagree with their government. This is why Morris County so urgently needs a change in leadership. I am calling on Freeholder Mastrangelo’s running mates Douglas Cabana and Kathryn DeFillippo and the Morris County Republicans to denounce this behavior,” Parmigiani said.
