MORRIS PLAINS COUNCIL CANDIDATE CARA PARMIGIANI COMMENDS PRIMARY VOTER TURN OUT

MORRIS PLAINS, NJ (July 16, 2020)—Cara Parmigiani, Democratic candidate for Morris Plains Borough Council, has issued the following statement applauding Morris Plains voters for overcoming COVID-19 obstacles to vote in New Jersey’s July 7^th primary:

“New Jersey’s unprecedented vote-by-mail primary was not only a response to an extraordinary public health crisis, but it was also a step toward moving our electoral processes into the 21^st century and expanding voter participation and enfranchisement. As Tuesday marked the final day for ballots to arrive at county election headquarters for counting, I want to thank every Morris Plains voter, whether you voted for me or not, for doing your part to ensure the success and integrity of New Jersey’s elections.

“At no time in our recent history as a community, as a state or as a country, has it ever been more understandable for people to feel disillusioned, discouraged and disenfranchised. While this state of affairs has indeed motivated many people to fight for change on many fronts, this crisis has impacted different people disproportionately, and many others have lost faith in our institutions and feel abandoned and unheard. That is why the robust voter turnout in Morris Plains for New Jersey’s primary election is such a source of optimism, hope and celebration for our town. Our “Community of Caring” proved very much that we care about our democracy and how we navigate Morris Plains through the challenges ahead.
