Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty Endorses Mikie Sherrill for Reelection

WEST CALDWELL, NJ — Today, Morristown Mayor Tim Dougherty announced his endorsement of Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill for reelection in NJ-11:

“I first met Mikie back in 2018 when she promised to bring about a new kind of leadership to the district, one that responded directly to the needs and concerns of our constituents. Not only did she deliver on that promise, but she built a strong foundation for Democratic leadership in a traditionally Republican place like Morris County. Her experience working with mayors and local municipalities to bring about solutions and progress is why I again proudly stand with her,” said Tim Dougherty, Mayor of Morristown.

“Our mayors and local officials know their communities and the challenges they face, and our strong partnerships have been instrumental in helping me deliver for our towns,” said Rep. Mikie Sherrill. “I am grateful for the support and friendship of Mayor Dougherty as we continue to ensure New Jersey is the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

Tim Dougherty has served as the Mayor of Morristown since 2010, previously serving as an At-Large Councilman and Chairman of the Morristown Board of Adjustment.

Throughout her first three terms in the U.S House of Representatives, Congresswoman Sherrill has been a steadfast leader for the people of New Jersey, and recently was named U.S. Representative of the Year by the New Jersey Conference of Mayors. Previously, she was ranked as the most effective lawmaker in the New Jersey House Delegation by the Center for Effective Lawmaking. This year, she has brought back nearly $16 million in federal Community Project Funding to replace lead service lines, combat auto thefts, mitigate flooding, preserve Drew Forest, and more. Congresswoman Sherrill, a Navy veteran, is a member of the House Armed Services Committee and Select Committee on Strategic Competition Between the U.S. and the Chinese Communist Party.
