Mount Laurel Deputy Mayor Stephen Steglik Announces Candidacy for Vacant Burlington County Commissioner Seat
[MOUNT LAUREL] — Stephen Steglik, the Deputy Mayor of Mount Laurel and a dedicated public servant, is excited to announce his candidacy for the vacant Burlington County Commissioner Seat.
“With respect for the Burlington County Democratic Committee and the selection for our new Assembly member now complete, I am excited to announce my candidacy for the open Burlington County Commissioner seat,” said Steglik.
Stephen Steglik was first elected to Mount Laurel’s Township Council in 2018. Since then he has served as a township councilman, Mayor, and Deputy Mayor making him the youngest to hold all three offices. During his time on council, Steglik focused on increased transparency and better services without municipal tax increases. In fact, Deputy Mayor Stephen Steglik has never voted for a tax increase since being elected to Mount Laurel’s Township Council.
“I’ve called Burlington County home since I was 10 years old. I grew up here, went to school here, and I will grow old here.,” said Steglik. “I want to build on the progress being made by the current Commissioner board and continue to make Burlington the best county in the state of New Jersey. We do this by focusing on affordability, improving and maintaining great services, and being innovative in how we find solutions to our problems”.
To seek the Democratic nomination, Stephen Steglik will be focusing on party unity and bridging the divides among his fellow Democrats.
“In the age of Trump 2.0, now is not the time for Democrats to start attacking one another. We must fix the growing divisions by working together in order to deliver positive results for the taxpayer. That’s what this has to be about – the people of Burlington County.”
Stephen Steglik is a graduate of Hofstra University and the University of Pennsylvania. Previous to his time on council, he served on the Maple Shade Board of Education and was the President of the Burlington County Young Democrats. He currently serves as a Township Administrator for Voorhees Township.
