TRENTON, N.J. – Assemblywoman Nancy F. Muñoz has been appointed to the newly created Disparity in State Procurement Study Commission to ensure that minority- and women-owned businesses have equal access to state contracts.
“Each year, we have thousands of business owners vying for billions of dollars worth of state contracts for services, including a significant number of minority- and women-owned companies,” said Muñoz (R-Union). “No one, regardless of ethnicity or gender, should be bypassed. Our mission is to make certain that the best qualified businesses have equal access to the process.”
The 15-member commission will recommend policies, practices, and programs to promote opportunities for small, disadvantaged, and minority- and women-owned businesses in purchasing and procurement by the state and local governments. Members include six state Senators, six legislators from the Assembly, a governor appointee, the Division of Purchase and Property director in the Treasury Department and the Division of Local Government Services director in the Department of Community Affairs.
