Newark — The Murphy for Governor campaign today released a new 30-second ad, airing statewide and taking clear aim at Donald Trump’s actions “that betray our values,” noting specifically the president’s ban on immigration, efforts to outlaw a women’s right to choose, and his anti-environment extremism.

“The fight back starts here, starts now, and starts with us,” Murphy says. “We are better than this. As governor I will defend New Jersey and stand up to President Trump every time he attacks the vulnerable or defies our Constitution. I’ve got your back.”

As governor, Murphy has pledged to refuse to enforce any presidential edict that is either un-American on its face or unconstitutional in its construction. He has also pledged to appoint an attorney general who would pursue all legal avenues to protect New Jersey. Murphy has been highly critical of Governor Christie’s silence regarding Trump’s policies that would hurt residents, and the failure of the attorney general to join colleagues from across the nation in opposing the president’s orders in court.

New Jersey is one of only two statewide races in the nation in the first year of the Trump administration.
