N.J. Chamber President and CEO Tom Bracken’s Statement
on the Passage of the Federal Relief Plan
We’d like to thank the New Jersey congressional delegation that supported the passage of the American Rescue Plan, and we encourage President Biden to sign it as soon as possible.
It helps New Jersey in many ways, providing vital aid to those impacted by the pandemic.
Among the highlights: It extends assistance to the unemployed; it sends much-needed funding to state and local governments to cover COVID-19-related expenses; it provides additional assistance to businesses, including $25 billion to the restaurant industry; it sends money to schools and childcare providers to assist in their reopening; it funds infrastructure projects; and it invests funds to accelerate vaccinations.
The ultimate goal is to continue to reduce and contain the medical crisis and to achieve economic recovery as a soon as possible. This relief package helps us get there.
