N.J. State Parole Board Participates in Virtual Opportunity Job Fair

New Jersey City University (NJCU) recently hosted the Opportunity Scholarship Program Career Conference—a career fair aimed at assisting prospective job seeking students attending the university. Several New Jersey State Parole Board representatives attended the program, provided career guidance, and discussed employment and internship opportunities within the agency.

New Jersey State Parole Board Senior Parole Officers talked about the requirements to become a State Parole Officer Recruit, what a “day in the life” is like for a State Parole Officer, and how these men and women work to ensure public safety in our communities while fostering the successful rehabilitation of individuals seeking to re-assimilate into society.

Information was also shared about the New Jersey State Parole Board Internship Program which seeks to provide meaningful work-learning experiences to qualified individuals currently attending area colleges and universities, as well as graduates entering the job market.

“Events such as this career fair provide unique opportunities to students who are interested in careers in the area of Criminal Justice and State Parole,” said New Jersey State Parole Board Chairman Samuel J. Plumeri, Jr. “A career with the State Parole Board is rewarding and having the ability to showcase our offerings and prospects is a real positive for both the students as well as the State Parole Board.”

The mission of the New Jersey State Parole Board is to promote public safety and foster the successful rehabilitation of offenders through the implementation of policies that result in effective parole case management. A multitude of innovative parole initiatives assist the Board in addressing the needs of the community, crime victims, and offenders through responsible decision-making and supervision processes. These initiatives assist the New Jersey State Parole Board in meeting its important goals which include increased public safety, sustained recidivism rate reductions, and the successful and sustainable reintegration of offenders.
