National Association of Social Workers – New Jersey Chapter Endorses Allison James-Frison for Newark Board of Education

NEWARK, NJ – The National Association of Social Workers – New Jersey Chapter’s Political Action for Candidate Election (PACE) Committee has announced its endorsement of Allison K. James-Frison for Newark Board of Education.

“Allison is a social worker with an impressive history of serving the Newark community. She is a product of Newark public schools and has overcome multiple early life challenges to become the strong leader and advocate for children she is today,” said Jeff Feldman, Director of Advocacy & Communications at NASW-NJ. “Her campaign focus strongly aligns with social work values and priorities, specifically her emphasis on student mental health and social emotional learning in schools, cultural competency training for staff, and trust and relationship building between schools and parents.”

Said Miriam Stern, LCSW, NASW-NJ PACE trustee, “Allison practices social work values and ethics and brings that lens to her candidacy. She is an advocate for all kids and recognizes the traumatic experiences many of Newark’s youth are exposed to and the unique mental health needs of those youth. Moreover, as a social worker, business owner, and community leader who is a graduate of the Newark public school system, Allison serves as a great role model for what youth in Newark can achieve when provided the opportunity.”

“I want to thank the NASW for this endorsement of support,” said the candidate, James-Frison. “Social workers are individuals who are dedicated to helping individuals, families, and communities improve the quality of their lives—I am fortunate to be among their ranks and will bring the same dedication and commitment to serving on the Newark School Board.”
