NATIONAL EDUCATION LEADER DIANE RAVITCH AND THE NETWORK FOR PUBLIC EDUCATION ACTION ENDORSE LINDA WEBER FOR CONGRESS IN THE 7TH DISTRICT OF NEW JERSEY

On June 26, 2017, national education leader and activist Dr. Diane Ravitch and the Network for Public Education Action endorsed Linda Weber, Democratic candidate for Congress in the 7th district of New Jersey. This is the first high-profile public endorsement in the race.

The Network for Public Education (NPE) is a national advocacy organization whose mission is to preserve, promote, improve, and strengthen public schools for both current and future generations of students. Diane Ravitch is one of the nation’s leading education policy experts. She is the cofounder of the Network for Public Education and a former United States Assistant Secretary of Education. She is a Research Professor of Education at New York University and the author of 10 books.

“I am grateful for the endorsement of Dr. Diane Ravitch and NPE Action. It is crucial that we strengthen and support our public education system so that our children receive the best education possible and are prepared for the challenges and opportunities of our evolving economy. Both of my children received excellent educations in the public school system, and if I am elected, I will fight to ensure that every child has the same opportunity. I will continue to advocate for public education, and I will resist the Trump administration’s attempts to dismantle and defund our public school system,” said Linda Weber.

Linda Weber is a community leader and executive who has shattered glass ceilings in technology and finance, having built one of the nation’s first customer online banking platforms. She is the five-time chair of the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life and a former PTO president. Linda announced her candidacy for Congress on May 14, 2017.
