Navy veteran and former prosecutor Mikie Sherrill raises more than $245,000 in two months

Mikie Sherrill, a former Navy helicopter pilot and former Assistant U.S. Attorney announced she raised $245,957 this past quarter for her campaign for New Jersey’s 11th Congressional District. In just six weeks, the campaign received 1919 individual donations.

“The energy and grassroots support our campaign has received so early is incredible. It demonstrates that folks in New Jersey are ready for a representative who will listen to them and stand up to President Trump, rather than entrench themselves in Washington politics. After 22 years in Washington, Rodney Frelinghuysen is simply a rubber stamp for the President, voting with him 100% of the time. Not only that, but he still refuses to meet with constituents to explain himself. We deserve better.”
Since announcing her decision to challenge Rep. Rodney Frelinghuysen, Sherrill’s campaign has steadily built momentum. She has earned endorsements from key elected officials and advocacy groups like Senator Kirsten Gillibrand and Vote Vets, a nonprofit dedicated to electing more veterans to public office. Sherrill has also been featured in the New York Times and Rolling Stone as a rising star in the Democratic Party.
Mikie Sherrill is a former Navy helicopter pilot, a former federal prosecutor, and a mother of four. After spending nearly 10 years on active duty flying missions throughout Europe and the Middle East, she earned her law degree from Georgetown University. She eventually joined the U.S Attorney’s Office in New Jersey and worked to help prevent crime and develop trust between law enforcement and the communities they serve. Mikie and her husband, Jason, live in Montclair, New Jersey, where they are raising four children ages 11, 10, 7, and 5. Mikie coaches her daughter’s lacrosse team and manages her son’s soccer team.
