NBC 4 NEW YORK HONORED WITH NATIONAL EDWARD R. MURROW AWARD FOR TOP TELEVISION NEWSCAST
NEW YORK, NY — (October 12, 2020) – Recognizing the very best in broadcast journalism, the Radio Television Digital News Association (RTDNA) honored NBC 4 New York / WNBC with a national Edward R. Murrow Award for top large market television newscast. The award was presented Saturday evening for the station’s December 10, 2019 coverage of the deadly Jersey City shootout.
“Our news team did a remarkable job covering a very difficult story. I am proud of their hard work on this day – and every day, and thank everyone who contributed to our Jersey City coverage,” said Eric Lerner, NBC 4 New York President and General Manager.
NBC 4 New York’s 11 PM newscast included expanded team coverage of the day’s events, encompassing the murder of Jersey City Detective Joseph Seals, the deadly shootout at a Jersey City kosher market, the subsequent law enforcement investigation and reaction from the Tri-State and beyond.
