RELEASE: New Ad Campaign Urges Congressmen Frelinghuysen and Congressman Lance to Pass the Dream Act Before the End of the Year
Emerson Collective Launches a Series of 17 Ads Urging Republican Members of Congress to Act on Solution for Immigrant Youth Before the Holidays
NEW JERSEY –  As part of a multifaceted campaign to move Congress to pass a legislative solution for Dreamers, the Emerson Collective launched a major ad campaign urging Representatives Rodney Frelinghuysen (NJ-11) and Leonard Lance (NJ-07)  to pass the Dream Act before the end of the year.
The campaign features new television and digital ads, encouraging constituents to call on Congressman Frelinghuysen and Congressman Lance to act. The television ad highlights remarks of Democratic and Republican U.S. presidents in support of Dreamers and immigrants, concluding with, “Tell Rep. Lance: It’s not enough to just say you support Dreamers. Pass the Dream Act. Now.”
As part of the launch, a series of television and digital ads will also run in the congressional districts of 15 other Republican members of Congress, including Senators Dean Heller (NV), Marco Rubio (FL), Rob Portman (OH), and Orrin Hatch (UT); and Rep. Darrell Issa (CA-49), Rep. Ed Royce (CA-39), Rep. Steve Knight (CA-25), Rep. Mimi Walters (CA-45), Rep. Carlos Curbelo (FL-26), Rep. Martha McSally (AZ-02), Rep. Ryan Costello (PA-06), Rep. Will Hurd (TX-23), Rep. Pete Sessions (TX-32), Rep. John Culberson (TX-07) and Rep. Mike Bishop (MI-08).
“Representatives Lance and Frelinghuysen must not turn their backs on Dreamers,” stated Marshall Fitz of the Emerson Collective. “With more than 22,000 DACA-recipients in New Jersey, we call on these representatives to do the right thing for these young immigrants who are American in all but their paperwork. We urge them to stand up and work with their colleagues to pass the Dream Act immediately. More than 100 DACA-recipients are losing their status each day that Congress delays – the human cost is too great to ignore.”
Since the termination of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, Emerson Collective has run a multi-pronged campaign – mobilizing voters, advocates, and local elected officials to urge Republican members of Congress to deliver a legislative solution with a path to citizenship for Dreamers.  The group’s campaign launched a national television ad in September, has advanced a robust program to drive voter calls to Congress, is promoting an on-the-ground art installation tour (Inside/Out) bringing together local constituents and Dreamers, and has galvanized local elected leaders across the country to support the Dream Act and move their respective members of Congress to act on the legislation.
