NEWARK – Today the ACLU of New Jersey announced the election of its newest board member, Wendy Sealey, a recognized leader in non-profit management. Sealey’s appointment to the board comes at a critical time when the fight for civil rights is as important as ever.

“We are thrilled to have Wendy join our board,” said ACLU-NJ Board of Trustees President Marc Beebe. “Her deep expertise in nonprofit governance and development, her passion for service, and her dedication to justice for all will undoubtedly be invaluable to our organization.”

Wendy Sealey has over 20 years of non-profit management and fundraising experience, overseeing teams in leadership gifts, campaign fundraising, community outreach, and special events. Currently, she oversees a $33 million fundraising program as Vice President for Development at the Guttmacher Institute, a leading research and policy organization committed to advancing reproductive health care and rights worldwide.

“We’re so fortunate to welcome Wendy, a highly sought-after thought-leader in advocacy, fundraising, and more,” said ACLU-NJ Executive Director Amol Sinha. “At a time when nothing short of our democracy is on the line, I look forward to working with Wendy and our entire Board of Trustees to ensure the ACLU-NJ is best positioned to meet the moment and make New Jersey the civil rights leader the nation needs.”

As a fundraising coach, advisor, and speaker, Wendy has worked with various nonprofits in New York City. Prior to joining the Guttmacher Institute, Wendy directed fundraising programs for the NYCLU, East Harlem Tutorial Program’s capital campaign, Bank Street College of Education’s strategic initiative campaign, and the Astraea Lesbian Foundation’s multi-million-dollar grant-making program.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to serve on the board of the ACLU of New Jersey,” said ACLU-NJ Board of Trustees member Wendy Sealey. “Having long admired the organization’s mission and accomplishments, I look forward to working alongside the board and staff to advance core social justice issues that are the bedrock of our democracy, including racial justice, voting rights, and abortion access for all.”

As a member of the ACLU-NJ Board of Trustees, Wendy will support the organization’s mission to preserve, advance, and extend the individual rights and liberties guaranteed to every New Jerseyan by the state and federal constitutions in courts, in the legislature, and in its communities.
