New Group Seeks to Protect NJ Patients and Consumers’ Healthcare Decisions 

Patients Come First NJ will fight against obstacles standing in the way of patient well-being.

TRENTON, NJ – A newly launched national patient advocacy organization, Patients Come First, has announced the establishment of its New Jersey chapter that aims to ensure patients receive the care and support they need when they need it. Patients Come First New Jersey (PCF-NJ) will fight against policies that create barriers for patients and cause delays in innovation.

Unfortunately, today’s healthcare system often prioritizes the desires of special interests over ensuring that patients have access to the advanced and innovative medical care available in our healthcare system. From large insurers taking advantage of programs designed to help patients get access to medicines and care, to government policies that stifle innovation and hope for those with chronic illnesses, the current system simply does not work for patients and ultimately limits consumer choice.

Without dedicated voices speaking up on behalf of patients and consumers, obstacles will go unchecked and continue to stand in the way.  That is why PCF-NJ named veteran public affairs and communications professional, Jeanette Hoffman, as its Executive Director.

“There’s nothing more personal than an individual’s healthcare plan and treatment approaches — which should ultimately be a decision left to patients, healthcare providers, and their families,” said Hoffman. “I’m looking forward to representing the Garden State and working with this group to ensure that New Jersey patients and consumers are the ultimate decision makers and beneficiaries of our nation’s healthcare system.”

Hoffman said that PCF-NJ will strive to put patients at the forefront of healthcare through advocacy, science, education, and collaboration.
