New Jersey Assembly Candidate Allixon Collazos-Gill’s Statement on Rutgers Strike

MONTCLAIR, NJ (April 11, 2023)–Allixon Collazos-Gill, Democratic candidate for New Jersey State Assembly in the 27^th district, has released the following statement in response to the employee union strike at Rutgers University:

“It is extremely unfortunate that at a premiere institution such as Rutgers University, employees were compelled to strike, for the first time in their history, in order to have their voices heard on the issues of fair wages and job security. Our educators and the professionals who support our public education system—at all levels of public education—deserve the respect and support of earning a living wage, receiving equal pay for equal work and reasonable expectations of job security.  I commend Gov. Murphy for intervening in this situation and urge all sides to come to a swift agreement that allows everyone to get back to work and resume the primary mission of delivering a first-class college education to our students.”
