New Jersey Carpenters Union to Host Signing Day for Workers Changing Career Paths

Local NJ Residents Choose a Fresh Start at Apprenticeship “Signing Day”

(Edison, NJ) The Eastern Atlantic States Regional Council of Carpenters Local Union 253 will be hosting an apprentice signing day for three students who successfully completed the Carpenters Apprentice Ready Program (C.A.R.P.). These soon-to-be apprentices prove that a considerable career change is possible. Those signing with the union had previously worked as an airline flight attendant, home-flipper, and handyman. They’ve chosen to start a new career and enter a promising future as a union carpenter.

Carpenters Apprentice Ready Program (C.A.R.P.) is a pre-apprenticeship created to enhance opportunities for underserved populations. It offers qualified candidates the chance to be introduced to the basic math, professional development, and soft skills needed in the construction industry. After graduation from the pre-apprentice training program, candidates can apply for entry into their local registered carpenter apprenticeship program.
