New Jersey Citizen Action applauds advancement of Health Insurance Assessment bill

New Jersey Citizen Action (NJCA) applauded the New Jersey State Assembly Appropriations Committee today for advancing A4389 with amendments, which would generate revenues to help expand affordable health care coverage options for New Jerseyans.

“This is smart fiscal and health policy that picks up funding discarded by Congress that will be used to expand affordable health coverage for many New Jerseyans,” said Maura Collinsgru, NJCA Healthcare Program Director. “It will help decrease the rising rate of uninsured caused by the pandemic and help the close the longstanding racial and socio-economic coverage gap that persists in healthcare. We urge the entire state Legislature to support this legislation as an important component of  ensuring a complete state recovery from the COVID-19 health crisis, and for achieving our shared goal of affordable coverage for all New Jersey residents.”
