New Jersey Citizen Action calls on Congress to launch an impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump

New Jersey Citizen Action released the following statement today calling on the U.S. Congress to begin an impeachment inquiry against President Donald Trump.

“It is the duty of Congress to hold the President accountable for any actions that violate the trust of his office and his oath to uphold the Constitution,” said Phyllis Salowe-Kaye, Executive Director of New Jersey Citizen Action.“President Trump stands accused of attempting to coerce a foreign government to influence our democracy, and attempting to block a whistleblower’s complaint from coming to Congress. If these allegations are true they are violations of the law, abuses of power and impeachable offenses. We urge Congress to uphold their oaths to protect our country, and launch an impeachment inquiry as soon as possible.”

New Jersey Citizen Action is a statewide grassroots organization that fights for social, racial and economic justice for all. We combine issue advocacy, organizing and policy work with the provision of free financial services across the state.
